Who is Charlie Ocean?

Charlie Ocean, MSW (they/them) is an LGBTQ+ speaker, trainer, consultant, community organizer, and podcaster with decades of lived experience. Originally from Woodland Hills, CA, they now work and play in Denver, CO. You may know them by their former name, Chris Angel Murphy (or Christina, or Riley, or Blake… it’s a long story).

Charlie will unbox LGBTQ+ identities, tools, and the messy practice of allyship via long-form posts. As a nod to the content they wrote while active in communities like Diary-X and LiveJournal, Charlie will also weave in personal posts, reflecting on their life as a neuroqueer and nonbinary person, including (sometimes embarrassing) photos and videos.

With the ever-evolving changes in the now short-form social media that has taken priority in so many people’s lives, Charlie wishes to return to their roots of engaging and releasing in raw and vulnerable ways without fearing any algorithms deeming their content unworthy or bumping up against character and time limits.

They will still post content on social media accounts like LinkedIn and Instagram, somewhat begrudgingly :)
